We have downsized our flock considerably from what it has been in previous years. But our plan is to build it back slowly and with the best genetics we can find. Muscovy are interesting waterfowl to have on the homestead. We usually have ducklings available spring/summer/fall. We are working on finishing pens for the Muscovy so we can collect eggs for eating as well as hatching.

We currently keep a small flock of D’Uccle bantam chickens. Planning to add bantam cochins, silkies, as well as large fowl Brahmas this year.

Future plans are underway for adding quail and pheasant groups to the farm. I would like to raise the quail primarily for eggs, as well as a meat source for our carnivorous pets. Peafowl, Guinea fowl & possibly Emu are some other types of birds I would like to keep on the homestead as well.
